Jan Willem Doeksen was born in The Hague in 1964. He was educated at State University Groningen, The Netherlands, where he obtained a Master Degree in Business Administration in 1988.
He started his career in 1989 with the Dutch Shipping and Storage Group Royal Vopak, and has held various positions in Rotterdam, Singapore and Sydney, Australia. In 1997 he decided to give up his corporate career to join the family business to coordinate the future growth of the company.

Johan Tuk was born in ‘s-Gravendeel in 1967. He was educated at NIvRA and Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands, where he became Registeraccountant (CPA) in 1993.He started his career in 1985 with BDO CampsObers, and has held various positions in Dordrecht, Rotterdam and Utrecht.
In 2001 he decided to switch from advisory in a more entrepreneurial environment.

Since 2021, Paul Melles has joined our team in Rotterdam as technical director. Paul has worked in the nautical sector for 41 years, of which approx. 20 years as director of shipping company Doeksen. As such, he has a lot of operational, technical and managerial experience in setting up and running ferry companies. Paul has a lot of experience in devising and realizing innovative and sustainable ferry concepts. In his new role, he is responsible, among other things, for making all shipping company activities more sustainable in line with the climate objectives.
With Paul in our team, in addition to running our own activities, we can also provide external services/advice in the areas of:
- ferry service concessions;
- making existing and new ferries more sustainable;
- new/and conversion of ferries;
- construction supervision;
- fleet concepts.
